Back in the Midwest after almost 20 years enjoys being where "the flowers of my childhood grow best: blue iris, bleeding heart, delicate lily-of-the-valley and those great big fragrant lilac bushes. Those, plus garden art on the side of my weathered garage, create a homey, comfortable setting."

: Living in the mountains (with" elk, deer, mountain lions, bear and raccoons") made a deck container garden her best option. She also grew vegetables. But the best was "I pulled a chair out here and wrote all summer long. Heaven!"
