Our "Fall Into Something Special" Contest winners are:

First Prize of ten autographed Special Editions:

Rose Germano of Salem, MA

I started reading romance when I was 18. My first romance books were Silhouette. I enjoy Special Edition books because they have well-developed, emotional stories with the happy ever afters I love. A great way to escape when I want time for myself.

Second Prize of five autographed Special Editions:

Chantal Rollin of Saint-Hubert (Quebec), Canada

Since I learned to read in 2nd grade, I've always been a great reader. As a teenager, I started reading romances and haven't stopped since then. My mother tongue is French and until I reached thirty I was only reading in French. But by then, I tried to read in English and I've found lots of good points about it. I really much better appreciate the "Shakespeare language" (that's what we say in French when we talk about English) now.

The Special Editions are interesting in the way their longer stories enable the readers to get to know the characters and to let them feel the joys and pains lived by the heroes and heroines.

Third Prize of five autographed Special Editions:

A reader from Gastonia, North Carolina

Our "Red, Hot and Blue!" Contest winners are:

First place winner:

Theresa, Middlesex, N.J.

I was introduced to the romance genre in a Women's Lit course in college. Our assignment was to compare and contrast a romance novel, a women's fiction novel and a novel by one of the female writers in the canon. I had a hard time selecting a romance, because the synopsis on the back cover of each one I picked up, seemed interesting. I ended up reading several and got hooked!

I enjoy the characters and the values of the characters in romance novels. I like the upbeat nature and the simplicity of the novels and I find that upbeat, simple mood created while I am reading, carries over into other areas of my life.

I find "Special Editions" particularly satisfying because I find that the characters and plots are deeply explored and developed. I also find that many of the novels in this line are more realistic and true-to-life, thus I am more able to relate to them. As a stay-at-home mom of two little girls, "Special Editions" allow me a simple, relaxing time in which to indulge in a believable, true-to-life fantasy.

Second place winner:

Chrissie, Abbeville, La.

I got started reading romances because I've always enjoyed reading and I love a happy ending. It is a wonderful way for me to get away and indulge myself. I like Special Editions because the characters seem like people that I would like to get to know in real life.

Third place winner:

Eva, Richmond, Va.

I have been a bookworm most of my life and when I accidentally stumbled on romance books I was hooked. Special Editions has great storytellers who let me fly with them to different settings and heart warming-stories. My thanks to Special Editions and all the marvelous authors!

Our "May Day! May Day!" Contest winners are:

First place winner:

Kate from Dallas, Texas

I got started reading romance in college when a friend gave me several books that she had just finished reading. She convinced me that I would enjoy them, and to my surprise, I did. I confess I was a snob about romances--until I actually read some! I love identifying with the heroines and falling in love with the heroes of each book. There's something wonderfully satisfying about seeing each couple face problems and overcome them to find their heart's desire. I'm now a romance fan for life!

Second place winner:

Michele from Galveston, Texas

I'm thrilled to be a winner in the SE Authors' "May Day" contest! I began reading romance in my early teens. The first romances I read were Harlequins--I liked the emotional stories and the happy endings. That's what I particularly enjoy about Special Edition books--they always have that deep emotional thread. They are my favorite line!

Third place winner:

Kayce from Knoxville, Tenn.

What a surprise! I think I spend about half my internet time browsing book sites and reading book reviews. I started reading romance books when I was 11 or 12 years old because I felt like my reading skills and interests had advanced past childrens' books.

Our "Turning the Winter Blues Into Romance Red" Contest winners are:

First place winner:

Wanda Stone, Pekin, Ill.

I have always loved to read and would read anything I could get my hands on. I started reading romance novels when I was a teenager when my cousin lent me one of hers. I especially love reading romance novels because they help me escape 'real life' pressures and leave me feeling positive with their 'happy ever afters.' I enjoy Special Edition because they have well developed stories, which keep me captivated. Thank you so much for this wonderful prize.

Second place winner:

Kara Pouliot, Manchester, N.H.

I have been reading romance for years and years. Don't women always need a place to escape to? :) I love Special Editions because they let me get a sneak peek at the books I want to read! Thanks again!

Third place winner:

Zoe Hunter, Beacon, N.Y.

I am so excited. I love reading all genres but especially romance, thrillers and horror! My grandmother turned me on to romance novels when I was young (and a precocious reader) as we sat at the pool in Ft. Lauderdale. I have been reading them ever since.

Second place winner:

Jodie Bean, Oologah, Okla.

Third place winner:

Alissa Epstein, Albuquerque, N.M.

“Thanks so much. This is really wonderful news, especially so since my birthday was December 14. I have been reading forever and am a voracious reader of all types of romance and fiction novels. That is my entire form of relaxation and entertainment. Your website is interesting and definitely most informative.”

Our "Summer Contest" Contest winners are:

First place winner:

Barbara Nolan, Kentucky

I started reading romance as a teen-ager when I became hooked on the magazine "Modern Romances". Rarely does a day go by when I don't read a book, or at least a few chapters. I especially like the romance genre because most of them have a happy ending and leave me in a good mood. I like Special Editions because they always hold my interest and are never boring.

Second place winner:

Nina Tangman, Illinois

I started reading romance novels when I was young. I am an avid reader and like to read a variety of

Thank you so much. I was surprised to hear that I won first place in the "Read in the New Year"  contest. I am married and work full time with one daughter and a baby enroute in 13 days. I find a
lot of great stories in Special Editions. I'll now have lots of reading for the cottage this summer.

May Schultz, Petersburg, Va.

I just want to thank you for picking my name to win 5 books. I'm 76 years old and have been married
for 55 years. We are still "young chickens"!! I sing with the Southernaires, a group of retirees
that sing at nursing homes, assisted living, fraternal organizations, etc. We sing the old-time
songs and love it, and so does the audience. I also volunteer at Hospice, a great organization. I
keep busy and keep young. One of my favorite things is reading, so this prize is just WONDERFUL!
I'll be busy reading as soon as they arrive. Thank you once more.

Third place winner of 5 books:

Elizabeth Swaim, Jacksonville, N.C.

I'm 26 years old and live in Jacksonville, North Carolina. For the past 8 1/2 years I've worked in a
library on a Marine Corps base. I've been reading books ever since I was a little girl. I didn't
start reading romances till about 8th or 9th grade, though. I love all Silhouette books. Special
Editions are great when I want a good long "quick" read. Thanks again. You've made my day.

Our "Colors of Fall" Contest winners are:

First place winner of 10 books:

Lou of Middleburg, Fla.

I am an avid reader and have been since my early teens. SpecialAuthors.com is a wonderful site for avid or casual readers. Very informative on what is new and what is a great read. I love the little synopsis on authors also. Thanks again for the books and I will tell everyone I know about your unique site!

Second place winner of 5 books:

Sharon of Affton, Mo.

Wow, thank you so much! I love the great authors and stories I find in Special Editions. They are a large part of my keeper books. I got started reading romance books when I was recovering from surgery. A friend brought me a big bag full of romance books. All it took was reading one and I was hooked.

Third place winner of 5 books:

Jennifer of Decatur, Ill.

I started reading young adult romance and mysteries in 6th grade. In high school I naturally switched to reading adult romance. I love to read and can always be seen with a book in my hand or my bag or in my car. I love reading Special Edition books mainly because there are a lot of mini-series and series within Special Editions. Recently, I have enjoyed reading The Devaneys, Montana Mavericks, Bridgewater Bachelors, The Coltons, etc. Every month I faithfully add Special Edition books to my list of books to buy. Thanks, authors, for providing us with such great books.

Our "Everything's Coming Up Roses" Contest winners are:

First place winner:

Beth from Ohio

I'm also a writer, just not published yet. I belong to Central Ohio Fiction Writers, the local RWA chapter in Columbus, OH, and the OVRWA Chapter in Cincinnati. I've been a writer almost as long as I've been a reader. I'm also a teaching supervisor for middle schools in Columbus. I really enjoy Special Edition books because of the longer plotlines and deeper emotion. Being a writer myself they're wonderful examples of strong heroines and sexy heroes. I also appreciate that the settings often center around small towns--palm trees and beaches aren't the only places to fall in love! (though it doesn't hurt...LOL) Not to mention that a few SE authors are also friends :)

Second place winner:

Kim from Illinois

I have been married to a wonderful husband for eighteen years and currently live in a suburb just outside of Chicago. I am an avid romance reader and have been a huge fan of the Special Edition books for years. They are the perfect book to read when I need to relax and don't have a lot of time. Thank you to all of the authors for the endless hours of enjoyment I have received from reading your stories. I anxiously look forward to the new releases each month.

Third place winner:

Janet from New Jersey

I like Special Edition books because they offer a wonderful selection of heart-warming stories with believable characters that I can relate to. They just make me feel good!

Our "Special Look" contest winners are:

First Place:

Elizabeth

"This is great! I have read romance since I was a teenager and my older sister introduced me to the wonderful world of romance novels. Now I am 28 years old and still love it! Reading is a great way to relax, have a little excitement and adventure, and see the beauty of love. Especially now with the things that are going on in the world, it's good to be able to read to get away from the news on TV and be happy. I love the Special Edition books because they are so REAL. I can relate to the characters and even become the character."

Second Place:

Marianne

"I love the Special Edition series! Their slightly longer length gives them more depth than some of the shorter series romances and the combination of intriguing plot and compelling love story makes the line a perfect fit for me.

I'm 29 years old, live in Boston, Mass., and work as a television news producer. I am also working on a novel that I hope may someday be part of the Special Edition line."

Third Place:

Carol

"I have always enjoyed reading almost any kind of book. I especially enjoy romantic stories with happy endings. That's why I think Special Editions are so great. I have been married for 36 years. Both my son and daughter are married and my daughter has five children, including twin boys. I also love cats and baseball."

Our "Winter Wonderland" contest winners are:

First Prize:

Nicole D., Jacksons Gap, Ala.

Wow, what a pleasant surprise to hear that I was the first place winner! I never expected that!! Jacksons Gap is a small, quiet country town surrounded by beautiful Lake Martin. I love living here because in the summer and early fall I get out on my Bennington Pontoon Boat and catch some sun or read while relaxing.I first started reading Special Editions when my husband and I were buying our boat. Someone at Lakeside Marina had a Special Edition on the desk we were sitting at, so I started to read it and have been hooked ever since!During the days I usually spend that time cleaning the house (we all love that, don't we :o) and at night I curl up and read my latest Special Edition. I love to read Special Edition because the authors are fabulous and the books never take on a more "heated" (I guess that's the word I'd use) tone as some romances tend to. I am constantly telling people they need to read these books. Once you start reading one you can't put it down!

Second Prize:

Debra Guyette, Wolcott, Conn.

Thanks for selecting me as the second place winner! I look forward to receiving my books. I live in a small town in Connecticut. We are sandwiched in between two metropolitan areas. We are a true bedroom community. We have very few businesses-no McDonald's but we do have a Dunkin Donuts! I teach 8th grade science in an urban setting. I do so love the kids. They are the same whether they live in an urban area or some place affluent. I enjoy my job most of the time. I love reading books, especially romances. Special Editions are truly enjoyable. I read for escapism and these books meet that need. I look forward to reading many more in the future!

Third Prize:

Brenda Lokers, Baraga, Mich.

Hello and thank you ! I'm so excited. I live in a small town upper part of Michigan. I love to read and as a homemaker, they are my kind of books! Again, thanks a bunch!

Our "Fall Festival" contest winners are:

First Prize:

Yvonne Kaufman

My favorite things are reading, listening to music, and cooking with my children, and I have very eclectic taste in everything I do…I used to be one of those people who thought romances were nothing but junk but then…about twelve years ago I picked up a romance…and have been a loyal reader ever since. Since that time Special Editions have become one of my favorite lines. They are straightforward and usually hysterically funny, in my opinion. My favorite authors are Christine Flynn and Christine Rimmer, but I do read most of the authors.

I am a single mother raising three children and caring for both of my parents, all five of whom have chronic health problems…Reading is my escape from my reality because I need a happy ending somewhere, and Special Editions give me a good read without sappiness .... By the way, am impatiently waiting for Scrooge and the Single Girl!

2nd & 3rd Prizes:

Christine Puckett

I am a fifth grade teacher and when I have time, I enjoy reading as a way to unwind. I spend my days taking care of the needs of kids so on my free time, I enjoy doing something just for me. I like to relax with a good book and good cup of coffee.

Joy Isley

I am an avid reader and have been all my life. I grew up on a ranch in Colorado in the late 50's. There wasn't much to do for entertainment, other than ranching, so every week when we went into town I would head for the library first thing. Only 15 books could be checked out by one person, so my sister would check out 15 and I would check out 15. So I ended up reading 30 books a week.

And of course, they were books of various genre. Somehow over the years, I narrowed my selections down to romance. Although I don't have much time for reading now, I select books that won't take much time to read. That's one of the reasons I like Special Editions. And another is who the authors are and their story lines. Also, the price is right. I can slip them easily into my purse and can read when I have a few spare minutes.

Our "Midsummer Madness!" contest winners are:

Diana Tidlund of Greenfield, Massachusets

"I am a 33 year old avid reader who reads about 45 books a month, sometimes more. (I had a small write up in the RWR magazine for August about Harlequin books . Which was neat.) I am married with a stepson and 2 daughters, ages 11,11 and 10. I manage a small gift shop and outside of reading ....I love to ride the Harley!"

Earlene Gillespie of Leavenworth, Kansas

"I have 2 grown boys, 26 and 23 yrs old. They still think they are little sometimes though. LOL. I am a LPN and work for the federal government. My hobbies are reading, watching tv and going to the movies with friends and family. I have 4 sisters to do this with."

Melissa Lawson of New London, Connecticut

"I am an aspiring writer with historical as my favorite genre. I will probably shock the romance community as I have a mohawk and tons of piercings. :) My first book is going to be a story about pirates. I have a privateer in my family so my hero is actually an ancestor."

Our "Tax Day Give-a-Way" winners are:

Michelle McMillan of Hodgenville, Kentucky

"I'm 31 years old and married to the most wonderful man, Tony. He was truly sent to me by GOD. We've been married for almost 6 years now and have known each other for 11 years. We don't have any children right now, but we are hoping to in the very near future, probably by this time next year is the plan. We have one dog, SissyGirl, named after dog I had as a child. We rescued her from a truck stop where she had been abandoned. She was near death when we found her. She's our baby, or thinks she is. I guess my hobbies would be gardening, reading, and watching old movies. I love the old Busby Berkley musicals, the ones where there lots of singing and dancing. I also like the Ester Williams films where they do all the synchronized swimming. It's more like watching the Zeigfeld Follies than a movie. And , a little known fact about me is that I collect Gone With the Wind memorabilia. I have transformed one of our spare bedrooms into a mini museum of Gone With the Wind collectibles, new and old. My husband and I live in Hodgenville, KY (birthplace and boyhood home of President Abraham Lincoln). We have 5 beautiful acres of property and love working outside. I guess I could go on and on, but I won't. Thanks so much for choosing me as your winner. And, for those of you who feel like I felt, that you never win anything, DON'T GIVE UP!! Thanks  again."

Maureen from New Jersey

"I am married 20 years to the same man :) and am mommy to Smokey, Mittens, and Gilligan. You got it...first two are kittens and last one is a dog LOL I live in NJ and am a fulltime accountant and parttime book reviewer and am now attempting to write my own book...a Scottish historical. I also lead several reading groups on AOL."

Shaughnnessa Govender from South Africa

""I'm not married and never have been. I tend to read books (anything and everything but especially Silhouette Special Editions!) as a form of escapism from the boring day-to-dayness of everyday life. I'm currently studying (in the midst of completing my dissertation for my Master's degree actually) and I have no pets (had a dog when I was little but was traumatised by it's death and haven't felt brave enough to get another one...). My hobbies include, reading, traveling, reading, e-mailing, reading, going to the movies, reading, listening to music (my tastes are VERY eclectic), reading and ....er....did I mention reading?"
